On January 4, 2007, Lynwood Utility Corporation filed for a rate increase at the Tennessee Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the amount of $177,471 annually. The utility requested a rate increase on its 807 residential customers and one elementary school of 34.85%. As a regulated public utility, Lynwood provides sewer service to customers in Williamson County, Tennessee.
After preparing the matter for hearing, the Consumer Advocate and the utility agreed to a settlement that reduced the company’s request to $61,991 annually. With the adjustments made to the revenue request and the rate design, the bills of the utility’s residential customers rose 13.15% rather than 34.85%. The Consumer Advocate’s involvement in this rate filing will save Lynwood’s customers $115,480 annually.
