Tennessee led a multistate investigation that resulted in a settlement with DIRECTV involving marketing and sales of DIRECTV services. The states alleged that DIRECTV did not clearly disclose all material terms needed by the consumer when entering into an agreement with DIRECTV. DIRECTV also agreed to not require an additional contract when replacing defective equipment and to clearly notify consumers of any additional commitments. As part of the settlement, DIRECTV paid $13.25 to the states. Tennessee received $925,000 of the payment. DIRECTV also agreed to pay restitution to eligible consumers who file a complaint.
